Pastor Paul Touloute

Pastor Touloute entered the Master’s Degree Program at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, in March 1999. He was completing his coursework in the Ph.D. program when Pastor Izidor died very unexpectedly in March 2005. Against the advice of his family and friends, Pastor Touloute returned to Les Cayes to join the work for the Lutheran Church in Haiti in July 2005.

Pastor Touloute’s leadership style is very different from that of the other pastors in Haiti. He has trained and empowered the people to make decisions and considers himself a co-worker. Pastor thinks that this will help the church not to rely upon him or any one individual as a patron, but to be able to continue with or without him.

Pastor Touloute and other Evangelical Lutheran Church in Haiti (ELCH) leaders strongly believe in the value of education, and the 23 Lutheran schools in the South District constitute a wonderful way to evangelize and catechize not only the children, but also their entire families, and through them many have been brought to the church.

Pastor Touloute states that our main focus is reflecting the Love of Christ. He stresses that God was and is completely in control of all, and that we need to submit to His will as we serve Him.
